# easy-easy speakeasy **North star:** Speakeasy style community for senior devs in search of a hideout. > High-trust, high-signal hideout for senior developers. The SSH puzzle guards the door (a shibboleth). Beta acceptance is focused on the United States and Canada. No ads, no grifters, full anonymity available. ## About - [Homepage](https://easyeasyspeakeasy.com): Landing page with club description, membership rules, beta notes, and how to apply. - Door / puzzle host: [door.easyeasyspeakeasy.com](https://door.easyeasyspeakeasy.com) (SSH port 65535, public-key only). ## What it is Three ideas in one: 1. The SSH puzzle helps candidates know if they need to develop a few more skills before joining. If this feels early, the hideout would too. That's timing, not a verdict on you. 2. A hideout for senior devs who don't just dream their ideas. They build them. 3. Collaborate and discuss tech topics with like minded developers. The problem it targets: large social networks bury real conversation; shipping hard work gets almost no signal; people avoid helping strangers because help turns into an open-ended tax. The Speakeasy is a hideout where members want to be around each other. ## Membership - **Beta:** United States and Canada for now (small circle, shared time zones, culture first). Not a claim about who belongs in tech. Expansion later. - **Application:** There is no form. Candidates apply by solving the SSH puzzle that guards the door. That is the competence filter. - **Early members:** Applying now means a low user ID and a role in early history. - **Cost:** Free tier promised long-term; no paid features at launch. - **Privacy:** No personal details required. You can stay a number. Puzzle yields a private SSH key; after download and first connect, the private key is removed from the server (public key remains). Do not lose the key; it cannot be regenerated. - **Help norm:** Attempt to help other members when you can; no more than about 5 to 10 minutes daily. Nobody is kicked for not helping enough. - **House rules:** No shitposters, no wildly inappropriate sexual content, no AI slop (AI treated like a compiler, not a skill replacement). ### Apply ```bash curl https://door.easyeasyspeakeasy.com/api/onboarding/hint/1 ``` Web: https://door.easyeasyspeakeasy.com/api/onboarding/hint/1/web SSH door: `door.easyeasyspeakeasy.com` port `65535` (public-key only; passwords not used). ## Forum Members-only, closer to old Slashdot than a modern feed. Members submit topics; a curator picks focused stories for discussion. Missing a few days should not drown you in backlog. ## Scale and honesty The club is early (founder-led, small headcount). A good week for a new person is still largely solving the SSH puzzle that guards the door. Longevity is framed as the founder’s primary project, not a VC-scale org. ## Notes - Invitation-by-puzzle, not open registration. - Online-only speakeasy. - Public surface beyond the marketing site is mainly onboarding hints and the SSH door. - Contact: [@mleitz1 on X](https://x.com/mleitz1)
